Harry Styles’ Record-Breaking MSG Tour Is Becoming a Theatrical Documentary

Harry Styles is bringing his record-breaking ‘Together Together’ tour to the big screen with up and coming indie filmmaker John Wilson.

John Wilson, director of the indie box-office surprise The History of Concrete and HBO’s How To with John Wilson, has been filming Styles Madison Square Garden show since August, according to Variety. Eagle-eyed fans recently spotted Wilson with the singer.

‘Together Together’ has been breaking records around the world. It is the largest single-engagement residency ever at MSG, starting in August and running until October.

According to Variety, “Wilson is capturing footage for a doc expected to be a hybrid of live performances and a glimpse into Styles’ world. One source described it as featuring authentic human stories of everyone involved in the tour —from the singer and his fans to countless others behind the scenes.”

The 40-year-old filmmaker started his career directing music videos and tour footage. Wilson has worked with the likes of David Byrne, Nathan Fielder and Josh Safdie.

Wilson’s first feature-length documentary, The History of Concrete, recently passed $2 million at the box office.

Universal Pictures Content Group, Peanut World Pictures and Styles himself are producing the upcoming documentary. Insiders told Variety they expect a theatrical release.

Recently, Styles paid tribute to his late One Direction bandmate Liam Payne, two years after his shocking death. Styles took to the Madison Square Garden stage to perform an emotional new song titled “What Is Enough.”

“Being here, I feel incredibly lucky to get to play these shows here in New York. This building means a lot to me, as I said, and I feel incredibly proud when I get to look up there and see my name up there from last year,” he told the crowd.

“And there are so many people in my life, friends and people that I’ve worked with, that I wouldn’t have been able to do this without. And two years ago today, I lost one of those friends. It’s sad. I’m sure a lot of you have been through similar things. I hope you haven’t,” Styles concluded.
