Quentin Tarantino Says He’s Written a Script for His Final Movie

Quentin Tarantino has written a script for what could be his 10th and final film, but the director isn’t rushing to get it made. The Pulp Fiction director recently told The Graham Norton Show that he has a script he really likes, but wants to finish his first stage play, spend time with his family and experience life before deciding what comes next.

“I’ve written a script that I could do that I really, really like, but I have to do the play and see who I am, right?” Tarantino said. He added that he plans to finish the play, spend time with his family, and then “live” before deciding what he wants to do next.

The comments suggest the screenplay is ready, but its plot, cast, and production schedule remain under wraps. Tarantino has not announced when filming might begin.

His First Play Started as a Movie Script

Tarantino’s first priority is Swashbuckling comedy The Popinjay Cavalier, starring Sacha Baron Cohen. The production is Tarantino’s first play written specifically for the stage and has an unusual origin: he originally developed the idea as a screenplay before realizing it worked better as a play.

The story, set in Europe in the 1830s, owes a debt to old Hollywood swashbuckling adventures, but mixes together that and the farcical tone of a comedy of deception and disguise. Previews for the play begin at London’s Phoenix Theater on February 23, 2027, with an official opening set for March 18. It is scheduled to run through June 13.

The project could also influence Tarantino’s last film. Although he has not said whether the new screenplay is connected to the play, he has suggested in the past that the stage experience may inform his next directing choice.

Tarantino’s last feature to be released was 2019’s * Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood. He had planned it as the first in a trilogy that would include The Movie Critic, a story set in Los Angeles in the 1970s, but he gave up on that project in 2024. He later explained that the script felt too much like Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood.

That history makes his latest update one to note, but fans will have to wait for more details. Tarantino has confirmed there is a script, but has not announced when filming might begin or whether the project will ultimately be his last movie.
