Earlier today, actor Callum Turner was named as one of the top stars in the lead to take over from Daniel Craig as everyone’s favorite British super-spy. According to an exclusive report from Deadline, Turner — along with Jack Lowden, Josh O’Connor, and an unnamed fourth man — is set to partake in final auditions for the next James Bond, following screen tests by 007’s new home at Amazon MGM Studios.
Turner, 36, has reportedly been in the running for Bond for several months and is the bookmaker’s favorite to take over as the iconic action hero. With an impressive CV and upcoming projects in the pipeline, the Brit is on the cusp of becoming a household name — like his very famous spouse.
Callum Turner’s Star is Rising
Callum Turner has made a name for himself in the recent rom-com cultural revival, having starred as co-lead in Universal’s romantic comedy One Night Only earlier this year, alongside Oscar nominee Monica Barbaro. In 2025, the British actor played one-third of a love triangle in the acclaimed A24 film Eternity, alongside Elizabeth Olsen and Miles Teller.
While some of Turner’s big-budget film roles, such as Theseus Scamander in the Harry Potter spin-off franchise Fantastic Beasts, failed to impress critics, he’s also appeared in some beloved indie films, such as Emma (2020) alongside Anya Taylor-Joy, Mia Goth, and Turner’s reported James Bond rival, Josh O’Connor. In one of his first roles, Turner starred in Green Room (2015), led by the late Anton Yelchin.
On TV, Turner starred in the Apple TV WWII series Masters of the Air, alongside Austin Butler and Barry Keoghan, in addition to the BBC’s adaptation of War & Peace, with Paul Dano, Lily James, Gillian Anderson, Jessie Buckley, and his other James Bond competitor, Jack Lowden.
Next year, the up-and-comer will appear in the remake of the 1981 horror classic, Possession, with Margaret Qualley and Diego Calva, and the sports comedy The Comebacker, with Tom Hanks, Patricia Clarkson, and Amy Madigan.
Callum Turner Married Dua Lipa Earlier This Year — And Their Meet Cute Is Adorable
Among pop music fans, Callum is perhaps better known as music superstar Dua Lipa’s other half, having tied the knot with the singer at London’s famous Old Marylebone Town Hall on May 31 this year.
In an interview with The Sunday Times, Turner revealed that he met Dua in 2024, at a mutual friend’s birthday party in Los Angeles.
“We sat next to each other and realized we were reading the same book, which is crazy,” Turner said in the interview, where he revealed his perfect pick-up line.
“It’s called Trust [by Hernán Díaz] and I had just finished the first chapter,” he continued. “I told her, and she looked at me and said, ‘I just finished the first chapter too.’ I said, ‘So we’re on the same page.'”
