One MCU Defenders star won’t return for Daredevil: Born Again Season 3. The actor has been with the franchise across four shows, including Jessica Jones, Daredevil Season 2, Iron Fist, and the Defenders miniseries.

Carrie-Anne Moss, who played the formidable attorney Jeri Hogarth, revealed she won’t return in the third season releasing in 2027. However, the 59-year-old is currently looking to team up with Jessica Jones’ Kristen Ritter on a different project.

The actress revealed that Marvel had not even reached out to her about reprising her role in Daredevil: Born Again. When asked, she simply said, “No,” before moving on to the next question. Most returning characters in Daredevil: Born Again appear to come from Daredevil’s corner of the MCU rather than the wider Defenders universe.

What did Carrie-Anne Moss’ Jeri Hogarth do in the original Netflix Daredevil show?

Jeri Hogarth (gender-swapped from the comics) is primarily tied to Jessica Jones and Iron Fist rather than being a friend of Danny Rand’s father. This version of the character is a senior at the law firm Hogarth, Chao & Benowitz. She interned at Rand Industries’ legal department at the beginning of her career.

In Jessica Jones, she routinely hires Jessica to unearth information to resolve cases in her favor. She also hires Foggy Nelson as part of her firm to deal exclusively with vigilantes. This was to help her recover from the damage done by her pursuing Killgrave to bring him to justice.

She also serves as Danny Rand’s personal lawyer when he returns to the USA, helping him win back his family’s company. Across the three shows, the character ends up playing an important role in multiple legal disputes, especially when it comes to getting the heroic vigilantes out of trouble or bringing jailed criminals and supervillains to justice.
