Marvel’s mysterious Zodiac series sets writers as first plot details emerge

Marvel officially unveiled Zodiac at New York Comic-Con earlier this month, but that’s pretty much all that was known about the spy thriller series. According to Deadline, the project has tapped a pair of writers as the first plot details are revealed.

Marvel’s Zodiac

Amit Cohen and Ron Leshem have been set as the writers of Zodiac. The pair have created and executive-produced multiple Israeli shows, including Trust No One, Bad Boy, 8200, Red Skies, and Traitor. Leshem is also the creator of Euphoria, the original Israeli series upon which Sam Levinson’s acclaimed HBO series is based.

So, what’s Zodiac about? Details are still sparse, but the report says the story will follow “a pair of spies who are chasing targets who have special abilities.“

At NYCC, Marvel Television chief Brad Winderbaum said casting will begin in the “next couple of weeks,” with shooting taking place in London in the spring. So we should be hearing more soon. Winderbaum also teased, “If you’re a fan of the comics, there is a lot hidden in that logo.” The A in the logo does hint at an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. connection.

The series is set to debut on Disney+ in 2028.

Marvel’s Live-Action Slate

At one point, Marvel had no shortage of live-action TV shows in the works, but those days have passed. Zodiac is the only new live-action show in development at Marvel to be announced. VisionQuest is currently airing on Disney+ and will be followed by the third and final season of Daredevil: Born Again in March 2027, but beyond that… it’s looking slim.

However, the animated side is going strong. The second season of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will debut on January 13, 2027, and two more seasons are confirmed to be in the works. The third season of X-Men ’97 will also be released in 2027, with a fourth season on the way as well.

Also, more Marvel Zombies are on the way. Marvel Animation announced that the series will return with three all-new specials. Marvel Zombies: The Winter Soldier will debut on Halloween 2027, followed by Marvel Zombies: The Fist of Khonshu on Halloween 2028, and Marvel Zombies: The Last Guardian on Halloween 2029.
