These Classic Sitcom Episodes Will Get You Ready For Halloween

So often, movie and TV fans celebrate Halloween by trying to find the goriest, scariest, most disturbing thing they can watch in anticipation of the holiday. But Halloween doesn’t always have to be mature-rated, right?

Sitcoms are a great way to indulge in the more innocent side of spooky season. Costumes, candy, and family drama are the name of the game here. These are the best classic sitcom Halloween episodes to watch if you want a fall treat without violence or monsters.

Home Improvement Season 5, Episode 6: “Let Them Eat Cake”

Home Improvement is kind of forgotten about now, but back in the 1990s, this Tim Allen-led sitcom was one of the top shows on TV. The Taylor family always knew how to have a good time on Halloween with seven episodes celebrating the holiday in the series’ eight seasons on air. The fifth season episode in which Tim and Jill dress up while at an awards show has all of the great banter and goofiness the family comedy was known for. It never took itself too seriously, and it always found a balance between the kid actors and the adults.

Everybody Loves Raymond Season 3, Episode 6: “Halloween Candy”

Everybody Loves Raymond always a little more adult-oriented than other family sitcoms during the 1990s, but it knew how to get into the holiday mood every once in a while. This third season Halloween episode makes perfect use of Peter Boyle’s talents as he dresses as Frankenstein and gives out candy to the neighborhood kids. He also ignorantly gives out some not-so-candy items when the treats are gone. Oops!

Friends Season 8, Episode 6: “The One With the Halloween Party”

Friends was more known for its Thanksgiving episodes, but this Halloween classic features hilarious constumes and iconic scenes. Who can forget Ross dressing up as a space potato named Spudnik? Or Joey dressing as Chandler? That one may not be a costume, but Joey finds a way to pull it off!
