Two days after Samara Weaving joined the cast of Olivia Wilde‘s upcoming holiday comedy “Naughty,” here’s news of two further additions. Deadline reports that Kate Berlant and John Early are the latest to join the picture, alongside the previously announced Jennifer Aniston, Pete Dinklage, Chase Sui Wonders, Regina Hall, and Ike Barinholtz. Who will the pair play opposite Dinklage’s Santa Claus? That means under wraps for now (pun intended).

Set during the holiday season, “Naughty” follows Aniston’s Mallory as a mom in the midst of a divorce who must convince Dinklage’s Santa Claus to testify at her hearing so she may secure custody of her son from her dirtbag ex. That’s a decent-enough set-up for Wilde’s follow-up to “The Invite.” “Cocaine Bear” writer Jimmy Warden pens the script, with LuckyChap producing alongside Wilde and Warden. Jacqueline Garell oversees the film for Universal.
“Naughty” is the latest of several collaborations between friends Early and Berlant, the most recent being Early’s feature directorial debut “Maddie’s Secret.” The pair earned Emmy and Critics Choice Award nods for their Peacock sketch special “Would It Kill You To Laugh?” They also co-starred in HBO Max‘s “Search Party” together. Other credits for Berlant include her HBO stand-up special “Parmesan,” “The Moment” and Wilde’s sophomore film “Don’t Worry Darling,” as well as TV shows “Nobody Wants This” and “The Bear.” As for Early, he recently starred in “Coyote v. Acme,” “Never Change!,” and HBO’s “The Comeback,” as well as Wallace Shawn‘s Off-Broadway play “What We Did Before Our Moth Days,” directed by Andre Gregory.
Universal has “Naughty” dated for a November 5, 2027 theatrical release, just in time for Xmas. Stay tuned for more casting news for the comedy.
