  • Volkswagen Anhui has launched the ID. UNYX 09 with a limited-time starting price of 169,900 yuan ($25,290).
  • The sedan comes standard with 5C fast-charging battery cells across the lineup and offers a maximum CLTC range of 755 km.

Volkswagen Anhui launched the ID. UNYX 09 electric sedan on Saturday, with a limited-time starting price of 169,900 yuan ($25,290), further expanding its electric vehicle lineup in China.

The new sedan is Volkswagen’s second model jointly developed with Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV), following the ID. UNYX 08 SUV.

The ID. UNYX 09 is available in 3 trims: Ultra, a so-called fully equipped version and Max, with official list prices of 179,900 yuan, 219,900 yuan and 249,900 yuan, respectively.

The starting list price is 20,000 yuan below the 199,900 yuan entry price announced when pre-sales began on September 24, while the top trim’s price remains unchanged.

The limited-time Double 11 promotional price of 169,900 yuan applies only to the Ultra trim with a black exterior and is limited to 500 vehicles. It represents a 10,000 yuan discount from that trim’s list price.

Volkswagen Anhui’s launch offers apply to customers who pay a deposit between October 24 and November 30. Customers should consult dealerships for the promotional price’s validity period and financing details.

The ID. UNYX 09 features a fastback design, measuring 5,081 mm in length with a 3,030 mm wheelbase, and will compete in China’s large electric sedan market.

The Ultra and fully equipped trims feature a single-motor, rear-wheel-drive layout, each offering a CLTC range of 755 km (469 miles). The Max uses a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive setup and offers a CLTC range of 705 km.

The rear-wheel-drive versions have a peak motor output of 230 kW (308 hp), while the all-wheel-drive version has front and rear motors rated at 140 kW and 230 kW, respectively.

All versions come standard with a battery pack of about 92 kWh, using 5C fast-charging cells supplied by CATL (HKEX: 3750). Volkswagen Anhui says the sedan can add 250 km of range in 5 minutes of charging.

The ID. UNYX 09 comes standard with a Turing AI chip supplied by Xpeng, delivering 750 TOPS of computing power, and a driver-assistance system based on a VLA (Vision-Language-Action) large model.

The system supports highway NOA (Navigation on Autopilot), urban NOA and parking-space-to-parking-space assisted driving. Parking functions include parking after the driver exits, remote parking and reverse-path assistance.

An 85-inch augmented reality head-up display (AR-HUD) and a 15.6-inch center screen are also standard across the lineup. The fully equipped and Max trims add dual-chamber air suspension and DCC variable damping, further differentiating the versions.

Volkswagen’s strategic partnership with Xpeng began in July 2023, when the German automaker announced a $700 million investment in Xpeng. The companies agreed to jointly develop 2 Volkswagen-branded models using Xpeng’s platform and driver-assistance software.

The ID. UNYX 09 launch extends that partnership into the sedan market. Volkswagen is drawing on local technology and a lower entry price to attract buyers in China’s fiercely competitive electric vehicle market.

The ID. UNYX 07 now starts at 99,900 yuan ($14,860), the first time Volkswagen has priced a fully electric model in China below 100,000 yuan.
