A24’s latest feature film will not be destined for its typical streaming home of HBO Max, and will instead be heading for Netflix next month.
Misty Green, the Chris Rock-directed comedy-drama, will head to Netflix U.S. on November 9, just one month after its theatrical debut on October 9.
According to Deadline, while A24 has an ongoing Pay-1 deal with HBO Max, in which the Warner Bros. Discovery-owned streaming service is the first stop for newly released films from the indie studio, Rock’s ongoing deal with Netflix overrules the A24-HBO Max agreement. Misty Green, the comedian and actor’s first directorial effort in twelve years, will head to Netflix, thanks to a “long-running relationship with the streamer on its comedy specials.”
“Years after her Hollywood breakthrough, a talented actress whose career has stalled fights for her second act,” A24’s official description for Misty Green states. Rosalind Eleazar (Slow Horses, Missing You) leads an all-star cast, including Adam Driver (Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Marriage Story), Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out, Judas and the Black Messiah), Anna Kendrick (Pitch Perfect, A Simple Favor), Topher Grace (Spider-Man 3, That ’70s Show), and Rock himself.
After a limited release following its premiere at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), Misty Green grossed $160,023 at the box office and received mixed reviews. The film divided moviegoers and critics, scoring a “Fresh” rating of 68% for the former and a “Rotten” 59% for the latter on movie review site Rotten Tomatoes.
Misty Green is just one of several buzzy releases by A24 this year, following Tony, The Invite, Primetime, and Backrooms, now the highest-grossing film ever from the studio. You Can See Everything, the Elizabeth Holmes documentary and latest release, is expanding into more theaters, thanks to first-week success and phenomenal demand.
Misty Green arrives on Netflix U.S. on November 9, 2026. International territories may vary.
