You Won’t Believe How Much This BMW X5 Sold For – Spoiler Alert: Almost Nothing!

The previous two generation of the BMW X5 are some of the best-looking premium mid-size crossovers in their class, and this is my humble opinion. The second-gen has also aged quite nicely, and the original is definitely not bad at all either, and this one goes for nothing these days.

On average, you will have to fork out between $2,500 and over $17,000 for the E53, and the latter sum is for the V8-powered range-topper, and an example with decent mileage and in a very nice overall condition. Its successor, the E70, aka the second-gen, goes for roughly $3,500 to some $22,000, and paying the latter sum will get you a cool X5 M. The third-gen fetches between $11,000 and over $35,000, and the from $25,000 to over $75,000.

As for the pictured BMW X5, it is an F15 2015 model year, and that places it in the third generation that was assembled between 2013 and 2018. Production took place in the United States of America, at the South Carolina plant, and this model was also put together in Russia, Egypt, Malaysia, and Indonesia. It shared its nuts and bolts with the era’s X6, as well as the G30 5 Series, G32 6 Series, G11 7 Series, and G15 8 series, among others.

This machine is presented in Glacier Silver Metallic on top of a black interior, and was located in Miami, Florida, prior to it changing hands recently. We will get to this part in a few moments, as first, we have to delve into some of the details, like the powertrain. You see, this is an xDrive35d model, which means that it comes with a diesel engine.

The mill is none other than the N57 3.0-liter straight-six turbodiesel, which was officially good for 255 hp (258 ps/190 kW) at 4,000 rpm and 413 lb-ft (560 Nm) of torque available between 1,500 and 3,000 rpm. It features an 8-speed automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive, and independent tests back in the day revealed that it took a little over 7 seconds to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-97 kph). The top speed is electronically capped at 130 mph (210 kph).

This diesel-powered BMW X5 features 19-inch wheels, has running boards, a panoramic sunroof, a rearview camera, a Harman Kardon premium sound system, Dakota leather upholstery, and power-adjustable and heated front seats. These are all mentioned in the listing, just like the known flaws, which are the chips and scratches on the outside, some curb rash on the wheels, and wear on the seats.

According to the ad, the crossover in question had its engine oil and filter changed in March 2025, when the odometer read 72,731 miles (117,049 km). The engine oil and filter were also changed in March 2024, at 68,215 miles (109,781 km), which is also when the brake fluid was flushed. In February 2023, at 64,742 miles (104,192 km), this X5 paid another visit to the shop, and also in February 2023, for new front brake pads, and a new fuel filter, among others, at 60,994 miles (98,160 km).

The only reported modification revolves around the windows, which have been tinted, and the new owner should also know that the tires carry 2023 and 2024 date codes. Besides the BMW X5 in question, the new owner will also get an OEM bike rack, a set of rubber floor mats, a cargo mat, the owner’s manual, and a single key. The vehicle had 79,000 miles (~127,100 km) on the clock at the time of cataloging, a clean Florida title, and a clean Carfax history report.

The selling dealer reportedly bought this machine earlier in 2026, and they listed for grabs on Cars&Bids as part of an auction that ended a few days ago. The gavel hit the table on October 20, 2026, and this BMW X5 failed to change hands. However, it did sell after the online auction ended, and the price was $15,800. And given that we mentioned the market value of this model above, you know that that sum is basically average.

It is also nothing compared to what this ride initially cost, as it sold from just under $60K, excluding options, and dealer fees. And for what it’s worth, it is definitely a lot of car for the money, not to mention that this one features quite a few goodies, looks very good both inside and out for something that was made over a decade ago, and has aged very nicely, which is something that we probably won’t be able to say about the new-age Neue Klasse BMW X5, namely the G65 (the G78 is the LWB for China).

Would you have picked up this BMW X5 for just under $16K if you came across the ad in time? I probably would have, but then again, I also dig the model in question, the powertrain, and the spec of this car. You can check it out in more detail here.
