Dog-themed cryptocurrency Shiba Inu is gaining another real-world utility opportunity as crypto-native travel booking platform Travala lets users pay for car rentals with SHIB in more than 50,000 locations worldwide.
According to Travala, customers can book rental cars for their next journeys and pay with Shiba Inu, adding another travel-related use case to the popular dog cryptocurrency.
“Take the wheel on your next journey! Rent cars in 50,000+ locations worldwide and pay seamlessly with SHIB on Travala,” Travala wrote, highlighting the growing integration of digital assets into travel services. It shared an image that reads “rent cars worldwide with SHIB.”
The development gives SHIB holders another option for spending their tokens beyond trading and holding. Prominent community members, including Shiba Inu Japanese member Kuro, Shiba Xanders and Mazrael reacted on X, hailing the milestone.
In a related development, Shiba Inu community member Mazrael unveiled ‘ShibPayment,’ supporting SHIB, BONE, LEASH or TREAT on 14 networks, including Ethereum, Shibarium, Base and Solana. This innovation allows users to set up a payment link or a drop-in button for any website or WooCommerce plugin and offers an optional burn on every sale.
SHIB price
At the time of writing, SHIB was slightly down in the last 24 hours, falling 0.13% to $0.00000484, as the broader crypto market saw choppy action as the Federal Reserve’s two-day monetary policy meeting kicked off and investors digested a spate of economic data releases.
The Federal Reserve began its two-day meeting today, with the central bank’s latest interest rate decision due on Wednesday.
Traders predict policymakers will hold the interest rate unchanged at the current target range of 3.75% to 4% but will look for clues as to whether the Fed will raise interest rates again before the end of the year. The Fed funds futures market now assumes a 90% chance that the Fed will hold rates unchanged.
Investors will also parse Chairman Kevin Warsh’s statement at the press conference following the decision for potential insights on future monetary policy decisions. The latest publication of the personal consumption expenditures index, the Fed’s preferred inflation gauge, is due on Thursday.
