Ben Wheatley (“Meg 2: The Trench,” “Free Fire”) is taking over directing for the feature “Molepeople” at Paramount Primal and Blumhouse Atomic Monster.
Wheatley replaces Rob Savage (“The Boogeyman, “Other Mommy”), who was set to direct but exited due to scheduling conflicts.
With Savage’s exit, previously announced star LaKeith Stanfield is also exiting the film. Nathan Elston wrote the script.
The story concerns a man who descends into the abandoned tunnels beneath New York City, where he discovers a twisted society lurking beneath the streets.
Jason Blum, J.D. Lifshitz, Raphael Margules, and James Harris produce. Filming is slated to begin at the end of November or in early December in the UK.
Paramount will handle worldwide distribution, with a release date of August 27th 2027 set as production on the title is moving fast.
