Patrick Stewart, the celebrated British actor whose commanding performances as Captain Jean-Luc Picard in “Star Trek: The Next Generation” and Professor Charles Xavier in the “X-Men” franchise made him one of the most recognizable figures in science fiction and superhero cinema, has died. He was 86.
Stewart died Wednesday, October 28, at his home in Los Angeles following what his representative, Kelly Bush Novak, described as “a brief and poignant journey” with Alzheimer’s disease and Lewy body dementia, according to The Associated Press. His death was announced Thursday, October 29.
