Joseph Gordon-Levitt & Phoebe Dynevor Enter A Sinister New-Age Retreat In Mark Heyman’s Horror Film

A wellness retreat in the New Mexico desert probably sounds relaxing enough, at least until Jacki Weaver starts talking about eternal life. Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Phoebe Dynevor head somewhere far more sinister in the new trailer for “Pendulum,” Mark Heyman’s feature directorial debut and the Oscar-nominated co-writer of “Black Swan.”

Gordon-Levitt and Dynevor star as Patrick and Abigail, a married couple traveling to a new-age retreat after a traumatic event. Patrick initially goes along with the experience to help his wife heal, but quickly grows suspicious of the group’s enigmatic leader, played by Weaver. Meanwhile, Abigail becomes increasingly drawn into the retreat’s spiritual philosophy, widening the divide between the couple as Patrick begins to question what is happening around them.

Heyman wrote and directed the film, which reunites him with Darren Aronofsky, who serves as a producer after the pair collaborated on “Black Swan.” Heyman also co-wrote the 2023 Stephen King adaptation “The Boogeyman” and previously produced Aronofsky’s “The Wrestler” and “The Fountain.”

The supporting cast includes Anna Deavere Smith, Jena Malone, Norman Reedus, and Weaver. Aronofsky produces alongside Jacob Jaffke, Élan Klein Jaffke, Heyman, Dave Caplan, Ari Handel, Elizabeth Gesas, and Will Greenfield.
