FURIA beat MOUZ en route to Bucharest final

molodoy had 1.80+ ratings on Dust2 and Cache

FURIA defeated MOUZ in three maps in the PGL Masters Bucharest semi-finals on Friday to advance to their second consecutive final, after they claimed the Thunderpick World Championship title in Malta less than two weeks ago.

“I’m very happy,” Danil “molodoy” Golubenko, who posted a series-high 1.24 rating, said in a post-match interview with James “BanKs” Banks. “It’s always hard to play against MOUZ. They have good structure and know how to play the game.”

FURIA will contest Saturday’s final with Nemiga, who upset Vitality earlier on Friday to reach their first-ever Big Event final.

When asked about the match-up, molodoy said: “I will play against my friends, syph0 and khaN. I think they want to beat me. It’s hard to play against them because they will be confident playing against me. We will see. Good luck to them.”

FURIA jumped out to an early lead on Dust2, but it proved short-lived as MOUZ took control once they had money in the bank, prompting Mareks “YEKINDAR” Gaļinskis to question his teammates’ lack of communication.

The Latvian’s comments sparked an immediate reaction as FURIA woke up and took the game to their opponents, led by molodoy and Yuri “yuurih” Santos.

The Kazakh AWPer followed it up with three USP headshots, setting his team up for a flawless CT pistol. That marked the start of a dominant run from the Brazilian side, who closed out the map with an impressive 7-0 run.

The onslaught continued on Mirage, where Kaike “KSCERATO” Cerato fired his team into the lead with a crisp 4K in the pistol round. The Thunderpick World Championship MVP powered his team to an 8-4 lead with an 18-6 score, with Oldřich “PR” Nový the only player on MOUZ who looked capable of making a difference as he racked up 14 frags, one more than his teammates combined.

The tables turned in the second half as MOUZ took control with a tight defense and built a commanding 7-0 lead. YEKINDAR and KSCERATO still tried to breathe some life into FURIA when they combined for all five kills to win their team’s first round of the half, but their efforts would be in vain as MOUZ quickly put the game to bed.

A chaotic opening on Cache gave way to a dominant first half from FURIA, who picked up an 8-4 lead by keeping MOUZ from stringing wins together. Nerves crept in after the break, with both teams dropping anti-ecos, but FURIA pulled through by winning back-to-back rounds.
