Earlier Saturday morning ESPN revealed a list of five teams interested in trading for Indianapolis Colts star running back Jonathan Taylor.
Among the list of teams was the Green Bay Packers. Avid fans might be wondering why the Packers would have interest in a trade for a running back after the team finally welcomed back Josh Jacobs, who was removed from the commissioner’s exempt list this month.
Jacobs spent six weeks on the commissioner’s exempt list, effectively acting as a six-game suspension, following his arrest earlier this year and misdemeanor battery and destruction of property charges following an incident with a woman at his Green Bay area home.
Why would the Packers want to trade for Taylor after getting Jacobs back? The answer might be new allegations against Jacobs.
3 Other Women Accused Josh Jacobs of Abuse
Following his initial arrest in May, multiple other women contacted police to detail their own allegations against him.
Those accounts were included in evidence regarding Jacobs’ battery case that the Hobart/Lawrence Police Department released Friday night in response to a public records request. Green Bay TV station NBC 26 first reported the records release.
One woman claimed she communicated with Jacobs for about six months before spending about 11 hours at his home. After she told Jacobs she hadn’t come there for sex, he became angry, slapped her across the face and told her not to disrespect him, according to the report.
Another woman described a 2022 altercation in which Jacobs grabbed her by the hair, placed his hands on her head and neck, dragged her, scratched her chest, and took her phone after it fell to the floor.
Jacobs pleaded no contest Sept. 10 to misdemeanor counts of battery and criminal damage to property.
The NFL is still investigating the incidents involving the Packers running back and could hand out further punishment, which could leave Green Bay in need of another running back – hence interest in Taylor.
