Netflix’s New Heist Thriller Becomes the Streamer’s No. 1 Movie in the World One Day After Its Release

It may be Halloween, but Netflix’s international audience is apparently swapping horrors for heist movies, making this new entry to the streaming giant’s library the most-watched movie on the platform in just one day.

Collision Course, the Spanish-language thriller that debuted on the platform on October 30, shot straight to the number one spot on Netflix’s global chart on October 31, according to FlixPatrol. The new film has beaten commercially successful horror films, such as the Oscar-winning Weapons (2025), as well as Ben Affleck’s Animals, for the title of most-watched movie in the world on Netflix for Halloween 2026.

Directed by Daniel Sánchez Arévalo, Collision Course is “set in the midst of the economic crisis, when a group of robbers break into a bank in Madrid, triggering a chain of unpredictable events,” according to Netflix’s official synopsis.

“What at first seems like just another robbery turns into a game of deception, fear, and survival, where every decision counts, every gesture hides something, and everyone is looking to escape from something more than just prison,” the teaser continues.

Set in Madrid in 2013, the Spanish film stars Laia Costa, Karra Elejalde, Luis Zahera, Tamar Novas, Álvaro Cervantes, and Lluís Homar. A Netflix original, Collision Course had its worldwide debut yesterday, distributed in territories across the world in addition to its home country of Spain.

Language has proven to be no barrier to Collision Course’s international success, topping the charts in territories from Belgium to Canada and Switzerland to Ukraine, regardless of the nation’s native language. Critically, however, reviewers weren’t so unanimous in their write-ups, with early Rotten Tomatoes entries praising the film’s ability to hook in viewers, but scrutinizing the payoffs in its storytelling.

Collision Course is available to stream on Netflix globally from October 30. Some release dates and listings may vary.
