Johanna Toruño Desires Latinas To Take Up Even More Space

In today’s episode of Transgression Vergüenza by Somos, we’re entering into all the messages and expectations that teach us to make ourselves smaller sized and finding out exactly how to withstand them and, rather, take up even more room, for ourselves and for each various other. To do that, we’re speaking with Johanna Toruño , the queer Salvadoran-born, Virginia-raised, and LA-based artist behind The Unapologetic Road Collection , a project she began in 2016 that uses public spaces throughout the nation as a canvas for affirmations commemorating Latinas, immigrants, queer and trans individuals, and various other marginalized areas.
