A complete living solution in an ultra-compact and lightweight towable, who wouldn’t want that? If convenience and compactness rank high at the top of your priorities list, the Beauer X4 might be the best choice: an iconic travel trailer that transforms at camp to make room for everything inside.
The Beauer X4 name is new, debuting a short while ago as a 2027 model.
The Beauer X4 itself as a product is not new: this is the transformable, highly innovative viral travel trailer that was previously known as Beauer 3X. It’s been around since 2012, being constantly overhauled and in steady, though limited, production ever since it debuted as a concept. Beauer itself calls it The Icon, and The Icon is back for another round, with a handful of changes.
First things first, though: the change in name. It comes about as French RV specialist Beauer is going through a sort of rebranding, fueled by a change in ownership. With the rebranding comes the expansion they announced in September, culminating with the debut of two brand new models at the 2026 Dusseldorf Caravan Salon.

At about the same time, the flagship Beauer 3X, the first and most famous product Beauer made, was seemingly replaced by the Beauer X4. The more recent 2026 Caravan and Motorhome Show at NEC Birmingham confirmed that the two, the 3X and the X4, are basically the same model, with some improvements and a bit more variety.
The Beauer X4 is now available at select dealers in the UK as well. The most significant upgrade to the original model is the availability of two floorplans: the original one with the L-shaped kitchen and another one, called simply Layout 2, which has a more compact kitchen, a larger bathroom, and a bedroom with space to move around.
We actually stumbled across it in November 2025, when Beauer listed a display unit for sale, and correctly assumed it was a new floorplan. This layout also erases the entire wall of cabinets for storage and creates an even airier, more home-like space.

Further refinements over previous iterations include nicer cabinetry, a wider choice of options for customization, and a longer list of upgrades ranging from solar to e-motors for easy hitching and parking, and AC, composting toilet, and an all-electric kitchen.
At its core, the Beauer X4 remains the same awesome little thing it was when it first popped up as a concept: a round, almost cute travel trailer that takes up very little space behind the towing car or inside the family garage, but which will turn into a family-friendly home on wheels in 60 seconds, at the push of a button.
The mechanism that makes this transformation possible hasn’t changed either. The X4 is made of three separate modules that travel stacked one on top of the other and slide outwards at camp thanks to motors fed by a 100Ah leisure battery. Once parked, the trailer triples in width and becomes a complete home, with a lounge/dinette/second bedroom, a kitchen, a very compact bathroom, and a bedroom.

Storage is limited, but it exists in a full wall of cabinets in the central part and some overhead lockers. As with any transformable trailer or RV, storage options disappear so it can transform. As you can see in the second video below, in the case of the X4, the furniture moves with the modules, being lifted up and tucked over non-movable segments like the kitchen.
The entire composite structure rests on an AL-KO chassis with a single axle and 12-inch wheels, stabilizers, shock absorbers, and a manual step. The 2027 version includes an awning-style flap over the door, which will offer some protection from the elements.
Dimensions remain the same as in the old 3X, so you’re looking at a travel trailer that’s 3.5 meters long overall and just 1.95 meters (6.4 feet) wide in road mode. At camp, width “grows” to 4.6 meters (15 feet), so you get 12 square meters (129 square feet) of living space.

The kitchen and the bathroom are the fixed parts. The lounge at the back comes with a U-shaped couch that also converts into a double bed and a flip-up dining table that attaches to the main kitchen block. Standard spec brings a two-burner gas cooktop and sink combo, the kind you’ll find in most European travel trailers and average-priced campervans, as well as an under-counter fridge and plenty of storage.
You can upgrade it to include a one- or two-burner induction cooktop, add a microwave, or opt for a bigger fridge. You can also customize colors, both for the wood in the kitchen and the upholstery in the living room.
The pass-through bathroom comes with a cassette toilet and a small sink, but you can also add a shower tray and shower kit, so you can have a proper washroom.

The bedroom at the front end features a double bed, some cubbies over the window, reading lights and power outlets. The cabinets mounted in the wall next to the bathroom can be accessed from inside the bedroom as well.
Standard features include a 55-liter (14.5-gallon) tank for freshwater, an outdoor shower with just cold water, and a 6-liter electric water heater. Beauer promises that the X4 is easy to set up and easy to tow, stylish and perfectly comfortable for a family of four or two couples traveling together.
The list of add-ons is impressive, as already noted. There’s a Signature Option that brings a custom paintjob, but also more functional upgrades like a Dometic chassis-untegrated reversible AC, the remote-controlled dual-motor mover, 13-inch aluminum wheels, a reinforced insulation kit for extended camping, a Thule awning, a bigger battery and 100W of solar, a 2000W Webasto gas or electric underfloor water heater, a Truma 1800 Eezy electric heater, or a Fiamma bike rack.

Maximum permissible weight is 1,350 kg (2,976 lbs) with about 150 kg (331 lbs) of payload that will have to include your options. Pricing will depend on those options as well, and it starts at €39,990 in Europe and £43,990 in the UK, which would be about $44,800 and $58,800 respectively.
