Us Shenmue fans know a thing or two about waiting around, so it’s no real surprise to see Shenmue 3 Enhanced delayed.
The PS5 re-release of Ys Net’s sequel – published by ININ – had been due out in 2026, but as the year has progressed, a postponement into 2027 always seemed inevitable.
Now confirmation has come courtesy of a newsletter, as reported by fansite Shenmue Dojo.
A statement reads:
“We’re well aware that you’re eagerly awaiting the chance to see Ryo shine like never before, for the first time on several modern consoles. Development is taking time to get everything right, and we’re making great progress while finalising the last details. We’ll have more details to share with you soon and are looking forward to this release in early 2027!”
The wording suggests we won’t be waiting too long for this version, which includes some improvements compared to the PS4 original, like an optional stamina system and a revamped camera.
I actually pre-ordered the pricey Collector’s Edition for this, as I’m a Shenmue nut – but I really don’t mind waiting for it.
I’d rather ININ get the release right than rush it to market, so I hope the team takes all the time it needs.
