Matchups are set for day three at PGL Masters Bucharest, featuring the first round of playoff-qualifying matches and elimination games.
G2 have their backs against the wall heading into the third Swiss round after suffering losses to Natus Vincere and Aurora, and will begin their recovery campaign against DENDELE in the 0-2 pool.
9z and TYLOO will also face off to avoid an early elimination, while Vitality and FUT square off in the 2-0 pool for a spot in the playoffs. Extra attention will be on the latter team, who need to play five matches with Álvaro “SunPayus” García before the November 2 VRS cut-off for him to replace Nikita “cmtry” Samolotov on their roster.
Advancing undefeated and losing in the quarter-finals would spell doom for Astralis, as it would leave the Ukrainian listed on both teams’ invitation rosters, only one of which could accept the invite.
Natus Vincere arrived in Bucharest facing immense pressure to pick up some LAN wins to secure their Major invite, and look to have done enough after beating G2 and FURIA. Any final doubts can be assuaged with a win over BETBOOM in the 2-0 pool, but a win isn’t guaranteed with Aleksandr “zorte” Zagodyrenko currently boasting the second-highest rating in Romania (1.53).
The 1-1 pool is headlined by a match between Spirit and FURIA, the former of whom dropped their opener to BETBOOM but bounced back with aplomb against TYLOO. 1win Private Club Season 2 champions The MongolZ will also look to rebound from a loss to Vitality against MOUZ, while Aurora will hope to carry their form against G2 into a matchup against Nemiga.
