Twenty-five years after Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker first teamed up for their wildly successful action-comedy franchise, Rush Hour 2 is back in the spotlight.
The 2001 sequel is currently one of the Top 10 movies on Paramount+ in the U.S., landing at No. 10 on the streaming service’s movie chart for Oct. 27, joining its predecessor, which lands at No. 6 on the same list.
‘Rush Hour 2’ Is Back in the Paramount+ Top 10
According to FlixPatrol’s Paramount+ chart, Rush Hour 2 was a new entry in the Top 10 on Oct. 27, while Rush Hour climbed four spots to No. 6.
The two movies follow the mismatched partnership between Hong Kong police inspector Lee and Los Angeles detective James Carter, played by Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker.
The first movie premiered in 1998 and became a major hit, eventually spawning two sequels. Rush Hour 2 brought the pair to Hong Kong, where a vacation quickly turns into another investigation involving counterfeit money, organized crime and plenty of fights and car chases.
The sequel was directed by Brett Ratner and also stars John Lone, Zhang Ziyi and Roselyn Sanchez.
While Rush Hour 2 hasn’t received the same critical reputation as some other major action franchises, audiences clearly embraced the sequel when it hit theaters in 2001. The movie opened to more than $67.4 million domestically and ultimately earned about $347.3 million worldwide against a reported $90 million production budget.
‘Rush Hour’ Is Ranking Even Higher
The sequel may be the more notable newcomer to Paramount+’s current chart, but Rush Hour is actually the bigger performer at the moment. The 1998 original is sitting at No. 6, four spots ahead of Rush Hour 2.
That puts both movies in the service’s Top 10 simultaneously, while the third and fourth installments have yet to make their appearance.
