Netflix Adding Popular ABC Crime Drama–It Was Just Renewed for a Fifth Season

Netflix already has dozens of movies and television series lined up to join the platform in November, including an ABC police procedural that was recently brought back for a fifth installment.

Will Trent, which is adapted from the novel series of the same name, is coming to Netflix in November, according to What’s on Netflix’s Kasey Moore.

What to know

Netflix users will be able to stream Will Trent starting Tuesday, Nov. 3, Moore writes. The series is part of a massive new licensing deal between the streaming platform and Disney, and all four seasons (59 episodes) are being added.

“Based on Karin Slaughter’s bestselling novels, this gripping crime procedural follows Special Agent Will Trent (Ramón Rodríguez) of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation,” Moore said. “Despite living with severe dyslexia and the lingering trauma of his harsh childhood in Atlanta’s foster care system, Will uses his unique perspective and extraordinary observational skills to achieve the highest clearance rate in the GBI.”

Developed by Liz Heldens and Daniel T. Thomsen, Will Trent premiered on ABC on Jan. 3, 2023. The program’s most recent season came to an end back in May.

Will Trent is coming back for a fifth season

Before the fourth season of Will Trent ended, ABC announced back in April that it would be renewing the show for a fifth go-around. The Rookie was also renewed for a ninth season at the same time.

“The renewals don’t come as a big surprise, as both shows have performed well for ABC,” wrote The Hollywood Reporter. “With a week of cross-platform viewing (primarily on Hulu), The Rookie and Will Trent each average more than 8 million viewers per episode, and both shows rank in the top 15 network entertainment series among adults 18-49.”

Currently, Will Trent has a 7.7/10 rating on IMDb.
