Tom Skerritt, the actor known for “Top Gun,” “Alien” and “MAS*H,” had an estimated net worth of $12 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.
Skerritt passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 21, of natural causes, his family said in a statement released on Thursday. He was 93.

Skerritt was born in Detroit on Aug. 25, 1933. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955 and later studied at Wayne State University and UCLA, according to Wikipedia.
His first movie was “War Hunt” in 1962. His breakthrough came in 1970 with “MAS*H,” in which he played Capt. Augustus Bedford “Duke” Forrest.
In 1979, he played Capt. Arthur Dallas in “Alien.” In 1986, he played Cmdr. Mike “Viper” Metcalf in “Top Gun.”
He also appeared in “Steel Magnolias” in 1989 and played Rev. John Maclean in “A River Runs Through It” in 1992.
His TV Work
Skerritt had a recurring role as Evan Drake in Season 6 of “Cheers.”
From 1992 to 1996, he played Sheriff Jimmy Brock in 87 episodes of “Picket Fences.” The role won him the Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.
He later played William Walker on “Brothers & Sisters.”
