Anthony Vaccarello Is Leaving Saint Laurent

Nine days after staging Saint Laurent’s spring 2027 runway program in Paris, innovative director Anthony Vaccarello is tipping down at the Kering-owned tag after a years at the helm.

When Saint Laurent appointed Vaccarello in 2016, the Belgian designer had never ever made any males’s apparel, and he understood he was entering the large menswear-shaped shadow of Hedi Slimane, his predecessor at the brand name.

“I felt stress starting guys’s, due to the fact that [Slimane] used to do guys’s, and he utilized to do truly good men’s,” Vaccarello told GQ in 2022 “That’s why it took me time to find my own language.” He held his very first standalone men’s show in 2018: a’ 70 s New York-themed event that ended with a host of shirtless models rubbed in glittery silver body paint. However it wasn’t up until 2022 that the designer absolutely turned up the volume, organizing a high-drama path on the sand in the Agafay desert, near Marrakech, where the late Yves Saint Laurent had actually lived and where his ashes were scattered
