Wrestling icon and WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair has been hospitalized in Florida after taking a fall. Reports of his medical emergency came only hours after the legend disclosed a blood clot diagnosis that forced him to pull out of an event.
Ric Flair Was Taken to a Hospital After a Fall in Tampa
On October 23, 2026, TMZ reported that Ric Flair had been hospitalized in Florida hours earlier. The outlet cited sources with direct knowledge of the situation who told them that the beloved wrestling icon fell outside a restaurant. He reportedly got up and departed the bar in a Tampa restaurant called Wagamama, leaving behind his phone and drink. According to the source, he then crossed the street where he fell and injured his face.
After reporting about the incident, TMZ published bird’s-eye footage of Flair being attended to by emergency medical workers on X.

TMZ’s report detailed Flair’s physical injuries, stating that he cut his head and eye during his fall. They also noted that “his eye was bleeding extensively” and that it was unclear if he suffered a concussion. After being treated at the scene, the WWE Hall of Famer was loaded into an ambulance and taken to the hospital.
Earlier in the morning of October 23, Flair posted on X to apologize for pulling out of a scheduled appearance at the Washington State Horror Con. He explained that doctors told him he couldn’t travel after being diagnosed with a blood clot in his leg and that he would have to undergo a procedure to treat it. He also noted that “blood clots are extremely serious and can be life-threatening.”

In 2017, Flair underwent a major health scare that resulted in him being put into a medically induced coma for several days. As he revealed to ESPN later that year, he was told that he only had a 20% chance of survival after his heart started to fail and his kidneys shut down. Decades earlier, in 1975, Flair survived a twin-engine Cessna 310 plane crash, as Pro Wrestling Stories chronicled.
