In some good news for western fans, Season 2 of the Yellowstone spin-off Dutton Ranch is just around the corner — at least, according to cast member Kelly Reilly.
Reilly, who portrays Beth Dutton in the series, which premiered back in May, revealed in an interview obtained by Deadline that filming for Season 2 will soon be underway. Principal photography is expected to begin in “early 2027,” according to the actress.
Dutton Ranch was a runaway success, with the Taylor Sheridan series getting the green light for Season 2 midway through the release of Season 1, thanks to promising viewership ratings and reviews.
‘Dutton Ranch’ Season 2 Release Window
According to local papers close to the filming of Dutton Ranch, such as the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Season 1 of the Yellowstone spin-off started shooting in August 2025 and wrapped in March the following year, two months before the series premiered on Paramount+.
Should Dutton Ranch season 2 start around a similar timeframe of January or February 2027, a nine-month filming window should see Season 2 arrive on Paramount+ by October or November 2027.
This would be a year-long wait for fans of the Taylor Sheridan neo-western, but there is a chance that production time could be trimmed in comparison to the nine months it took to produce and release Season 1.
Using the Fort Worth Star-Telegram as a guide once more, other locally produced Taylor Sheridan shows had much shorter Season 2 production windows. Sheridan’s second season of Landman took seven to eight months ahead of its premiere, while Lioness took five months, and 1923 Season 2 took seven to eight months. Should this fast-track method happen for Dutton Ranch Season 2, a potential summer or fall 2027 release date becomes much more promising.
