Throughout Dwayne Johnson’s Hollywood career, he has starred in so many successful movie series that he once jokingly sang on Saturday Night Live that he is “franchise Viagra.” Now, the beloved actor’s ability to star in popular films and their sequels is being proven once again. One of Johnson’s most beloved franchises, the Moana movies, has been dominating Disney+ for days now.

The Dwayne Johnson Franchise That Has Taken Over Disney+

The website FlixPatrol publishes daily Top 10 lists of the most-viewed movies and TV shows on all of the popular streaming services. For several days now, the website’s Disney+ movie listings have been dominated by Dwayne Johnson’s Moana franchise.

The trilogy of beloved movies truly took the streaming service by storm on October 23, when the 2026 live-action adaptation of Moana debuted at No. 1. On the same day, Moana 2 was listed at No. 5, and the 2016 animated original followed close behind in the No. 6 slot. Any franchise taking up three of the top spots on one of the most popular streaming services in the world is a huge deal.

As of today, October 28, all three films have continued to be a staple of the top 10, with the live-action film staying at No. 1 every day since its debut. Currently, it holds that spot while Moana 2 sits at No. 6 and the 2016 animated original is listed at No. 8. The franchise’s run on the chart is only the latest example of its immense success.

According to The Numbers, the Moana franchise has brought in more than $2 billion at the worldwide box office. In fact, Moana 2 grossed more than $1 billion by itself in 2024. While the 2026 live-action film was the least financially successful of the three, its dominance on Disney+ for several days in a row proves that people are still interested in it. Additionally, all three Moana movies have impressive Rotten Tomatoes Popcornmeter scores in the 80s. That metric is based on user ratings, so those high scores prove the series’ popularity.
