On Wednesday morning the Kansas City Chiefs made the controversial decision to sign longtime Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker to their practice squad.
The move comes after kicker Harrison Butker missed two field goals in a 20-3 blowout loss against the Seattle Seahawks. It also comes after Tucker served a 10-game suspension following the NFL’s investigation into sexual misconduct allegations by 16 massage therapists from eight high-end spas and wellness centers in the Baltimore area.
Kansas City’s decision to sign Tucker also brought back a scathing message from Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce to Tucker following an interaction before their AFC title game showdown in January 2024.
Travis Kelce Called out Justin Tucker’s Antics
Ahead of the AFC Championship Game, Tucker attempted to play mind games against the Chiefs by continuing to kick on their side of the field during warm-ups. Kelce didn’t take too kindly to the decision and launched Tucker’s helmet out of the back of the endzone.
During an appearance on his New Heights podcast a few days later, the future Hall of Fame tight end didn’t hold back.
If you wanna be a [expletive] dick about it, you keep your helmet, and your football and your [expletive] kicking tee right where the quarterbacks are warming up. … Don’t paint me as the bad guy. He was poking the bear,” Kelce said at the time.
Travis Kelce on his pregame exchange with Justin Tucker:
“If you wanna be a f***ing dick about it, you keep your helmet, and your football and your f***ing kicking tee right where the quarterbacks are warming up. … Don’t paint me as the bad guy. He was poking the bear.”

Fans have since started resharing the video on social media.
“tucker was never the same after travis put a curse on him and now they’re teammates, what are we doing,” one fan said before another added, “Maybe the Chiefs just did this so Kelce can bully Tucker on the regular.”
The move didn’t work out too well for Butker as the Chiefs won the game 17-10 thanks to 11 receptions for 116 yards and a touchdown from the star tight end.
Will the two get along now that they’re teammates?
