JLR has been very busy lately and its Range Rover division is working on its electrified range with the addition of the all-new Range Rover Sport Electric and the Range Rover Electric, while the company is also intensely teasing the first-ever Range Rover GT, an all-new model based on the latest architecture from JLR.
Over in Australia, though, they are officially opening the Bespoke Commissioning Suite in Mascot, Sydney, and to mark the occasion the luxury brand has brought the first Range Rover that was delivered to Australia in the showroom alongside the brand-new Range Rover SV Bespoke Pioneer 1972, dubbed as “a singular creation inspired by this landmark vehicle.”
But what is the Bespoke Commissioning Suite? According to Land Rover, we are dealing with an exclusive atelier-like “experience offering clients unprecedented levels of personalization,” and it’s available on the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport Autobiography and SV models. Acting like an ultra-luxury program, it allows customers to “craft a truly one-of-a-kind vehicle, guided by Range Rover design experts.”
The clients can “tailor every detail, from custom paint finishes and hand-selected leathers to bespoke veneers, custom embroidery, contrast stitching, precious metal accents, and personalized insignia.” However, that’s not all, because during the commissioning process the clients have a curated, luxury stay at Capella Sydney, hosted for two nights – during which time they have access to Capella Sydney’s Culturists and also get Range Rover transfers to and from the Bespoke Suite for their commissioning appointments.
The Range Rover SV Bespoke Pioneer 1972 was created to remind Australians of the very first Range Rover brought to the Land Down Under, a Davos White Range Rover demonstration vehicle (serial number 35600022A), which has been “preserved with its original patina intact.” It served as the direct inspiration for the Pioneer 1972, featuring inspiration from the light and shadow play of Mount Kosciuszko – “a region synonymous with Range Rover’s Australian debut.”
It’s finished in a Bespoke White Gloss with metallic flakes and has Gloss Black mirror caps along with 23-inch Oblivion Diamond Turned alloy wheels with a Gloss Dark Grey contrast trim, while under the hood resides Range Rover’s SV 4.4-liter twin-turbo MHEV V8 powertrain with 452 kW or 606 hp. Inside, the cabin is rich with Caraway and Ebony leather, mixed with Natural Black Birch veneer and Satin Black ceramic controls.
There are also some custom touches: Bespoke seat embroidery and scatter cushions with a Perlino and Caraway stitch inspired by Kosciuszko’s snow-covered peaks. Illuminated treadplates read Pioneer 1972 One of One to complete the bespoke transformation.
“The opening of our Bespoke Commissioning Suite in Sydney represents a significant milestone for Range Rover in Australia. It provides clients with an immersive environment to explore near-limitless personalisation possibilities and create a vehicle that reflects their individual vision,” said Penny Ferguson, Managing Director, JLR Australia.
“The Pioneer 1972 perfectly embodies that philosophy, honoring the pioneering spirit of the first Range Rover to land in Australia while showcasing the extraordinary craftsmanship, creativity, and attention to detail that define the SV Bespoke experience today,” she concludes. So, what do you think of the bespoke experience and this anniversary one-off?
