It’s been a couple of weeks since BMW uncovered the new-generation 3 Series, and besides the original stories, and the occasional rendering imagining it in different guises, the premium compact sports sedan hasn’t gotten that much attention from us.

However, the model has just made headlines again, as this one has received a virtual visit from the tuning fairy, as mentioned in the title. But what does that mean exactly? That it is a rendering take on it, because the G50 has yet to hit the assembly line. This means that nobody has one, though you can rest assured that plenty of tuners are already sketching out various aftermarket upgrades for it.

In this case, it wasn’t a tuner that has signed the CGI-infused 2027 BMW 3 Series shown above, but a rendering artist. This car came from @ildar_project on Instagram, shared on social media recently, and the pixel master hasn’t had much to say about it in the caption that accompanies the digital illustrations. But then again, what could have he said? After all, it’s an unofficial tuning take on this model.

Can you tell what’s new just from looking at the pictures and not comparing this rendered machine with the real one? Why, you likely can, because the virtual upgrades are definitely visible. These include a new kidney grille that retains its OEM shape and size, a new hood that is on the extremely vented side of things, and a modified bumper, with new trim on the side vents, a new pattern for the central air intakes, and an apron attached to it.

The latter has become mandatory for most tuning jobs these days, just like the side skirt attachments, and this rendered new-gen BMW 3 Series also ticks the latter box. The door mirror casings are new, and sport the M colors on them, and out back, we are looking at new bumper trim, a much bigger diffuser with a pair of extra brake lights, and a new ducktail spoiler that is more pronounced compared to the OEM offering.

Just like the skirts on the lower parts of the body, the wheels are also a must when it comes to modern-day tuning jobs. This 3er rides on larger alloys with a Y-spoke design that fill the arches perfectly. But do you know what they do that? Because the car in question sits much closer to the ground, obviously, so the virtual tuning job also included a lowering kit, or perhaps an adjustable air suspension, which would allow the driver to control how many inches the vehicle has between its belly and the road.

To no one’s surprise, the add-ons would be crafted of carbon fiber on a real tuning job for the all-new BMW 3 Series, especially if we are talking about a renowned tuner. Thus, all the extras mentioned above would be made of the lightweight material, and in this case, they provide some contrast against the car’s green finish. The wheels are black, and the daytime running lights are yellow, and these are an OEM feature, in case you forgot.

These will be found on the new BMW M350 xDrive, which basically bridges the gap between the lesser versions of the G50 3 Series and the upcoming M3, which is expected to premiere sometime in 2027 in the (mechanically unrelated) EV guise, and probably in 2028 when it comes to the ICE model.

You do remember what powers this model, don’t you? If you said a familiar 3.0-liter straight-six twin-turbocharged engine, then you should pat yourself on the back, because you certainly know your Bimmer powertrains. The assembly features a 48-volt mild-hybrid assistance in this case, and it churns out 437 brake horsepower, which equals 443 metric horsepower and 326 kilowatts. The torque is officially rated at 428 pound-feet (580 Nm), according to the spec sheet.

Everything is channeled to the rear-biased xDrive all-wheel drive system through a smooth-shifting automatic transmission with eight forward gears. With no outside intervention, the 2027 BMW M350 xDrive Sedan hits 60 mph (97 kph) in just 3.9 seconds. And guess what? That is actually two-tenths of a second faster than the outgoing BMW M3 Sedan in its base guise. The M3 Competition Sedan is one-tenth of a second faster, and the M3 Competition xDrive Sedan hits 60 mph in 3.4 seconds.

Flat-out, the new M350 xDrive does 130 mph (210 kph), and when equipped with sport tires, the top speed is said to increase to 155 mph (250 kph). Pricing for the 2027/2028 model year BMW 3 Series has not yet been announced, but it will in due course, as the first cars are expected to arrive at dealers nationwide probably in the first half of next year.

Before wrapping it up, we have to ask you if you dig the look of this virtually-tuned, new-gen BMW Series. So, do you?
