  • The revamped N8 switches from 3 rows of seats to a 5-seat layout and will officially launch in November.
  • Single-motor rear-wheel-drive and tri-motor all-wheel-drive versions will further expand Denza’s SUV lineup for families.

BYD‘s (HKEX: 1211) premium brand Denza opened reservations for the revamped N8 on Monday, ahead of the large 5-seat electric SUV’s official launch in November.

The new model features BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery and flash charging technology, offering up to 1,003 kilometers (623 miles) of electric range and giving Denza another offering to attract family buyers.

The opening of reservations follows the schedule Denza announced on October 22, bringing the model closer to launch after its regulatory filing in July. Denza did not announce pricing for the revamped N8 when reservations opened.

The N8 measures 5,150 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width and 1,820 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,075 mm. It is 50 mm shorter than the 6-seat N8L, while the other dimensions remain unchanged.

The 5-seat layout is a key distinction from the N8L. The N8 has 2 zero-gravity seats in each row, sliding rear seats and a standard trunk capacity of 1,046 liters.

The cabin features a 1.1-meter-wide PHUD display and a 30-inch central touchscreen. The former primarily shows driving information such as navigation and vehicle speed, while the latter supports multitasking and audiovisual entertainment.

The new model also features BYD’s God’s Eye 5.0 driver-assistance system, DiSus-A intelligent air suspension and rear-wheel steering, adding to the large SUV’s driving and comfort features.

The N8 offers single-motor rear-wheel-drive and tri-motor all-wheel-drive versions. The single-motor variants have peak outputs of 320 kW (429 hp) and 370 kW, respectively.

The tri-motor version uses Denza’s e3 technology platform, with 1 motor at the front and 2 at the rear delivering a combined maximum output of 890 kW. It also supports compass turns and intelligent crawl mode.

Earlier regulatory filings show that the N8 offers battery packs with capacities of 105.792 kWh and 130.15 kWh. Electric range varies by version, reaching a maximum of 1,003 kilometers.

A plug-in hybrid version of the N8 is also expected in the future, though it was not mentioned at the electric model’s unveiling.

The new N8 brings the nameplate back as a 5-seat electric SUV. The original N8 launched in August 2023 with 6-seat and 7-seat plug-in hybrid versions, but was discontinued less than 1 year later because of weak sales.

Denza subsequently launched the substantially redesigned 6-seat N8L in October 2025 and added an all-electric version in September this year.

The new N8 will complement the N8L with a different seating configuration, expanding Denza’s electric SUV choices for family buyers.

The Denza Z9S starts at 255,800 yuan ($37,910), 64,000 yuan lower than its pre-sales price.
