Chery opens China’s first scaled AC V2G site to visitors

Chery will showcase what it describes as China’s first AC vehicle-to-grid station deployed at scale at its Wuhu user summit

Chery will showcase its smart energy centre, which integrates solar power, energy storage and charging, at its 2026 International User Summit in Wuhu, Anhui, from 19 to 23 October. The company says the centre is China’s first AC vehicle-to-grid (V2G) demonstration station deployed at scale, and more than 2,000 guests are expected to attend.

The centre’s solar, storage and charging systems form a local microgrid that supports megawatt-level ultra-fast charging and powers a renewable energy rest area. Bidirectional V2G technology allows vehicles to charge at off-peak tariffs and return power to the grid during peak demand, and, where supported, to supply homes and communities during outages. An island mode allows charging to continue during grid disruptions.

The site also features Chery’s Volt-dragon Charger technology, designed to shorten charging times, while the company is researching superconducting charging. For households, its Energy Cube system combines solar generation, batteries and bidirectional charging to increase the use of self-generated electricity.

On the battery side, Chery offers long-cycle-life Rhino batteries and is developing solid-state batteries, with laboratory samples demonstrating high stress tolerance. The company says this supports further work on safety in automotive and residential applications.

Outside China, Chery has installed a microgrid combining solar power, energy storage and high-power charging at an electric heavy-duty truck park in Spain. The company expects the project to serve as a replicable model for freight operations.
