Back at the end of September 2026, we found out that the fully redesigned Cherokee has also been turned into a proper crossover SUV with off-road chops for model year 2027, with prices kicking off at $44,625 in the United States’ automotive market for the 2027 Cherokee Trailhawk Hybrid, which comes with goodies like a raised suspension, rear locker, low range, and a 37.5:1 crawl ratio, among others.
We quickly covered the novelties and then focused on how does the all-new off-road machine compare to its direct rivals. The sixth-generation KM compact crossover SUV has been morphed into a proper off-road adventurer, and we needed to know if it can also handle its competition, not just the trails. And there’s a bunch of them, like the 2026 Ford Bronco Sport Badlands, the 2027 Honda CR-V TrailSport Hybrid, the all-new 2026 Toyota RAV4 Woodland, or the 2026 Forester Wilderness, just to name a few.
But now it’s time to know everything that’s new for the 2027 Jeep Cherokee family: introduced as an all-new generation for the 2026 model year, the sixth by its name, the latest Cherokee “expands customer choice with new trims, features and the highly anticipated Trailhawk model.” All versions of the 2027 Jeep Cherokee feature a 1.6-liter inline-four Turbo Hybrid powertrain that has 210 hp combined, up to an estimated 37 mpg combined, including 39 mpg city, and 500-plus miles on a single tank of fuel.
“It is the most fuel-efficient Jeep model ever, without a plug,” says its parent Stellantis, and the towing capacity is 3,500 pounds while the SUV also boasts best-in-class off-road prowess in terms of approach, breakover, and departure angles. Also, when properly equipped, it is said to be the “only vehicle in its class to offer a 24-inch water fording rating depth.”
Anyway, the Trail Rated Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk returns for the 2027 model year with the two-speed power transfer unit with Active Drive II 4×4, Rock Mode has a 2.92 low range ratio and 37.5:1 crawl ratio, bespoke front and rear fascias, red tow hooks, skid plates, an off-road suspension, and 17-inch alloy wheels with all-terrain tires.
The other trim levels are Cherokee, Laredo and Laredo Altitude, Limited and Limited Altitude, Trailhawk, plus Overland, with pricing kicking off at $37,125, including a $1,995 destination charge, for the base model, and $44,625 for the Cherokee Trailhawk, including a $1,995 destination charge. The Jeep Cherokee Limited Altitude and Laredo Altitude are also new, packing 18-inch gloss black aluminum wheels, gloss black exterior accents and badges, and a gloss painted roof (Limited Altitude) or a Capri leatherette seat fabric with suede inserts on Laredo Altitude.
The available colors also include novelties: Fathom Blue, Ghost, Copper Shino, and Goldilocks join the fray alongside Bright White, Diamond Black, Sting Gray, Red Hot, Hydro Blue, and ’41. Inside, the hues are Global Black or Arctic, as well as the new Mantis Green, which is exclusive to the Trailhawk. Ordering is now open, including for the all-new and returning 2027 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk, and manufacturing takes place at the Toluca Assembly Plant in Toluca, Mexico.
So, what do you think of the 2027 Cherokee – yay or nay?
