MINI Australia Honors Six Decades of “Bathurst Glory” With Ultra-Limited Lucky 13 Special Edition

The premium British automaker MINI has a special treat for the Land Down Under, paying tribute to a historic motorsport victory with a new limited series. You’ll need to hurry, though, as there are only 26 examples up for grabs.

The company recently expanded its Countryman compact crossover SUV range with the introduction of the fresh MINI Countryman Untamed Edition available for both the Countryman S ALL4 and the all-electric MINI Countryman SE ALL4, pairing the intelligent ALL4 all-wheel drive with bespoke exterior and interior details “that give MINI’s largest and most versatile model an adventurous new character.”

Earlier in September and in July, the brand also brought to Australia the expanded the MINI Paul Smith Edition range to include the Cooper 3-Door, 5-Door and Convertible Paul Smith Editions arriving before the end of the year; and they also brought a tribute to the home of the marque with the MINI Cooper Oxford Edition. But that wasn’t the end of the limited series, as it turns out.

The latest one is also the most exclusive, for sure: MINI Australia has unveiled the new Lucky 13 Edition, created exclusively for the Australian market, and limited to just 26 units, with first customer deliveries planned for the first quarter of 2027. Pricing starts from AU$71,990 MRLP, which includes the GST but not also the on-road and delivery costs, and equates to no less than $50,522 at the current exchange rate.

For the massive price, MINI offers a special edition created exclusively for the Australian market and designed to celebrate Bob Holden and Rauno Aaltonen’s historic 1966 Gallaher 500 victory. It pays tribute to the Morris Mini Cooper S that secured “one of Bathurst’s most celebrated results,” and also celebrates MINI’s “enduring connection to motorsport and Bob Holden’s remarkable contribution to Australian racing history.”

The new special edition comes 60 years since the Australian driver Bob Holden and Finnish rally legend Rauno Aaltonen outright won the 1966 Gallaher 500 at Mount Panorama, Bathurst with a Morris Mini Cooper S. 13 was Bob Holden’s lucky number and the MINI Lucky 13 Edition is based on the gasoline-powered MINI John Cooper Works 3-Door, featuring the 2.0-liter inline-four turbo engine and a seven-speed sports dual-clutch transmission and shift paddles.

There are exclusive circular “13” decals, a finish in classic British Racing Green IV, Glazed White roof and mirror caps with white bonnet stripes, plus 18-inch John Cooper Works Rallye Spoke 964 Bicolor wheels in Frozen Midnight Grey along with a set of high-gloss black John Cooper Works elements: front, side-skirt and rear lower winglets, a carbon-fiber JCW tailpipe finisher and red JCW tow strap.

Inside, the MINI Lucky 13 Edition has John Cooper Works seats and steering wheel, an Anthracite headliner, extended ambient lighting, plus heated and electrically adjustable front seats, along with a Harman/Kardon 12-speaker, 365-watt sound system among other things.
