Monthly wind generation in the first nine months of 2026 was an average of 68% higher compared with the same period in 2025 in ISO New England (ISO-NE):

  • Monthly generation from wind was highest in September of this year at 668.9 gigawatthours (GWh), more than double generation levels from September 2025 and nearly 10% higher than this year’s previous high in March.
  • Increased wind generation is the result of growing capacity additions in the ISO-NE region. Regional wind capacity increased 47% so far in 2026 to 2.5 gigawatts, following a 12% increase in capacity in 2025.
  • Daily wind generation peaked on October 6, 2026, at about 47.3 GWh, 1% higher than the previous peak that occurred on September 10, 2026.
  • Total wind generation for the first nine months of 2026 was 4,619 GWh, 1.9% more than last year’s annual total of 4,533 GWh.
