Director Sacha Gervasi Assembles Renée Zellweger, Dominic Sessa & Peter Dinklage For High-Concept Comedy Exec Produced By Alexander Payne

“Darlington” is an upcoming high-concept comedy from filmmaker Sacha Gervasi (“Hitchcock”) and is one of many feature films heading to the American Film Market next month. It has quite a tantalizing early cast ahead of cameras rolling in 2027.

A trio of actors assembled by Gervasi for the project, aiming to begin shooting in the United Kingdom next spring, includes two-time Oscar winner Renée Zellweger (“Only Murders In The Building,” “Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy”), Emmy winner Peter Dinklage (“Wicker”), and on-the-rise actor Dominic Sessa (“Miami Vice ’85,” “Tony,” “The Holdovers”), according to reporting from Deadline.

If you weren’t aware, this would be a reunion of sorts, as Dinklage previously worked with the director on “My Dinner with Hervé.”

An official synopsis for “Darlington,” which sees Gervasi tackling the script as well:

Kate Spencer (Zellweger), an actress long forgotten by the industry, but is invited to reprise her most famous role — not in a revival of the show, but in the actual world where a reclusive tech billionaire (Sessa) has meticulously restored an English country estate to its former glory. Having retreated from the world, he now lives his life there in the fantasy that it is actually 1923. As Kate settles into this strange, controlled existence, she discovers that illusion and reality are far more entwined than she ever imagined.

The Rocket Science, Monumental Pictures, and Portobello Electric are behind the production, with a producing team that features Alison Owen (“Ghosts,” “Back to Black,” “Me Before You,” “Saving Mr Banks”) and Debra Hayward (“Ghosts,” “Bridget Jones Baby,” “Les Misérables”) of Monumental alongside Jim Garavente (“Game Night”) at Portobello. Acclaimed filmmaker Alexander Payne (“The Holdovers,” “Sideways”) is also in the mix as an executive producer.
