USDC settlement pilot in Colombia

ACI Worldwide and USDC issuer Circle announced a stablecoin settlement collaboration on Oct. 27, 2026. The payments software provider and Circle describe a pilot pairing ACI’s Connetic platform with Circle’s USDC infrastructure. Implementation will initially focus on Colombia. There, institutions would evaluate USDC settlement alongside the systems they already use.

USDC settlement within existing operations

Their announcement describes Connetic as a cloud-native platform combining traditional payment types, digital assets and card payments. The companies will use it to demonstrate stablecoin settlement alongside traditional payment rails.

The platform and the settlement instrument have different roles in the companies’ proposal. Connetic provides the orchestration environment; Circle’s USDC infrastructure provides the stablecoin component being evaluated. Describing the collaboration as an integration pilot captures that relationship without implying that all payments handled by the platform would settle in USDC.

Inspect what the pilot establishes

The October 27 announcement describes an integration demonstration. It does not establish production scale.

The disclosed integration path is distinct from proven bank adoption or measured operating gains.

Company-described demonstration, not independently measured production use. The release names no participating Colombian banks and supplies no production volumes, rollout timetable or measured time/cost comparison. No bank-network, blockchain or conversion route is inferred.

How institutions would evaluate USDC

Institutions would assess how digital dollars fit their treasury operations, governance frameworks and settlement processes, according to the announcement. Connetic brings payment types together in one operating environment, allowing institutions to evaluate another settlement option.

“Financial institutions want to understand how digital asset settlement can fit into the infrastructure and operating models they already trust,” said Craig Ramsey, ACI’s global head of account-to-account payments.

Circle describes USDC as a fully reserved stablecoin redeemable one-for-one for US dollars.

Circle Mint lets eligible institutions redeem USDC directly for dollars, according to the company’s product page. Individuals and small businesses cannot use that service directly. These are general access terms; the announcement does not specify the pilot’s USDC access arrangements.

Circle markets USDC payments as low cost and capable of settling in seconds. However, the announcement and USDC page provide no Colombia-specific comparison of settlement speed or cost.

What would establish broader use

The release names no participating Colombian financial institutions and gives no production transaction volumes or broad rollout timetable. It therefore describes a demonstration rather than established bank adoption across Colombia.
