Onchain compliance startup Predicate has raised $8 million in a Series A funding round led by Blockchain Capital, with stablecoin issuer Paxos, 1kx and Tribe Capital also participating.
Founded in 2023 by Nikhil Raghuveera and Jesse Sawa, Predicate is building technology that allows digital asset companies to set rules around who can hold or transfer their assets. Its platform helps businesses restrict sanctioned wallets and block transactions that violate their policies. It is addressing a major challenge for companies that are bringing stablecoins, tokenized funds and other regulated products onchain.
What Does Predicate Do?
Compliance allows the companies to follow processes required to abide by applicable laws and regulations, including anti-money laundering requirements, sanctions restrictions and customer verification rules. For digital asset businesses, enforcing these requirements become more complicated when tokens move between wallets on public blockchains.
Predicate aims to address this by allowing businesses to build compliance controls into their digital assets and blockchain applications. Rather than relying solely on external screening tools, companies can configure rules that determine whether a transaction should be permitted.
For example, a stablecoin issuer could restrict a wallet identified on a sanctions list from receiving its tokens. A tokenized fund could also limit participation to eligible investors, depending on the rules governing the product.
As per its official website, the platform has already screened more than $1 billion in transaction volume. It has evaluated over 6 million transactions against customer-defined compliance policies and blocked more than 100,000 non-compliant transactions.
Why Onchain Compliance Matters
Predicate’s funding comes as regulatory frameworks are also evolving. In the United States, the GENIUS Act, has been signed into law providing a federal framework for payment stablecoins, including requirements concerning reserves and oversight. The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency has also issued a final rule implementing parts of the framework on October 21, 2026. The rules are scheduled to take effect in January 2027.
Meanwhile, international efforts to address money laundering through crypto continue. Russia is also planning to introduce a unified test for cryptocurrency investors. It will be requiring non-qualified investors to pass a knowledge assessment before trading eligible digital assets on regulated platforms.
These developments are already creating demand for infrastructure that helps businesses apply their compliance requirements to digital asset transactions. Predicate is positioning its platform as one way for issuers to integrate those controls into blockchain-based financial products.
For Predicate, the challenge is to make compliance a built-in part of digital asset infrastructure as more financial firms explore moving regulated products onchain.
