Third-party video game giant Capcom has suffered a major data breach recently, exposing the personal information of more than 11.7 million customer “CAPCOM ID” accounts around the world.
The data leak includes emails, client IP addresses used during the last login, and other details such as account creation dates. Apparently, only “43 of the cases” leaked additional details such as birth dates, gender, country/region and nicknames.
Capcom says 196 Capcom ID “account login passwords” were also changed, but the passwords for these accounts have already been reset by the company and it’s continuing to investigate the “scope of any impact”.
In the same notice on the official website, Capcom says it will be reaching out to affected customers over time. It also notes credit card information is not included in the data breach.

Capcom ID is a unified account system that allows players to manage various Capcom games and access certain features. If you play titles such as Street Fighter 6, it allows you to access features such as online play, cross-play, and even bonuses.
So, just to play it safe, you may want to update your password and any other details associated with your Capcom ID.
