Those who enjoyed blasting through space nasties in Cronos: The New Dawn last year, listen up! The game’s Lazarus DLC has just got a brand new story trailer and it looks hella spooky.
Don’t be fooled by the December release date at the end of the new look, the expansion is set to launch on Switch 2 slightly later than other platforms, and is currently targeting a Q1 2027 window.
It all takes place before the base game, with you playing as the Pathfinder (before he became the Warden) in the early stages of his defiance against the Collective. And it’s not just monsters you’ll have to worry about this time. There’s a creepy Tracker on your tail, hoping to snuff out the Pathfinder’s rebellious activities before things get out of hand.
Most interestingly for us is the host of new abilities showcased in the trailer. We’re particularly fond of the teleportation skill, that lets you quickly switch vantage points for some stealthy takedowns, but there are also summonable decoys and some new weapons thrown in, too.
Here’s a rundown of the DLC’s key features:
Discover the Warden’s origins: Uncover the Pathfinder’s journey toward becoming the Warden.
Fight on your own terms: Experience faster, more aggressive combat that rewards quick thinking and tactical play.
Master new abilities and weapons: Use teleportation, decoys, and the deadly Gladius to overcome your enemies.
Escape the Tracker: Survive the relentless pursuit of a new enemy deployed by the Collective.
Uncover the Collective’s secrets: Embark on a dangerous mission that reveals a darker side of the Cronos universe.
While we felt that Cronos: The New Dawn played things a little too safe, we still had a great time with the base game at launch, calling it “a celebration of survival horror, paying homage to all the genre greats effectively, although failing to do anything truly original” in our review.
Here’s hoping that the DLC can push the boat out a little more when it arrives on Switch 2 at some point early next year.
