The first day of the playoffs of DraculaN Season 7 is done and dusted, with 16 teams finding themselves whittled down to 12 as several important results were recorded in the race for a spot at PGL Major Singapore.
FaZe found themselves on the right side of the equation with a victory, Envy took a hit by dropping to the lower bracket but stayed alive, whilst Luminosity suffered elimination and face a tall task to make it to Singapore.
The highest-ranked team in attendance, FaZe, kicked off their playoff journey with a hard-fought win over ASTRAL, needing a big performance from Jason “JBOEN” Boe Nielsen in an overtime Cache decider to get the job done.
If FaZe can keep their run going until at least a top-four finish, and they make the final three at RLG Tesla Cup, the European combine will be all but guaranteed a Major berth.
Envy meanwhile suffered an upset loss at the hands of BASEMENT BOYS to kick off their playoff campaign, but bounced back in their next game against INFINITE to continue their journey in the lower bracket.
For Envy, a deep run in both DraculaN and RLG Tesla Cup is likely necessary to bag a Major spot, so there is still a lot of work left for the Frenchmen to do if they want to book a ticket for Singapore.
Luminosity were the notable casualty of the first day of DraculaN’s playoffs, as they found themselves shocked by Nexus only to be punished by a tough lower bracket draw against BBL.
Whilst Luminosity are not dead and buried just yet, they are now in need of a trophy-winning campaign at RLG Tesla Cup to have any realistic chance, where they face stiff competition from the likes of FaZe, B8, GamerLegion and Envy.
The final notable result of the day saw BC.Game taking strides towards a spot in Stage 2 of the Singapore Major, grabbing a clean 2-0 victory over a solid BBL side. Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev and company will need to hope that the likes of The MongolZ and TYLOO slip up, and keep on winning themselves, but they have taken another step in the right direction.
There are still plenty more matches left to be played at DraculaN Season 7, with 12 teams still in contention spread across the upper and lower bracket. Tomorrow’s schedule is as follows:
