After the success of Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced, publisher Ubisoft has confirmed it currently does not have any other remakes of previous entries in the series in development.
As of mid-July 2026, we knew Black Flag Resynced had sold three million copies, and the number will have only gone up since then. It was deemed a big success, and the rumours were that Ubisoft was determining whether to create further remakes based on its sales stats.
Despite the success, Ubisoft shared in a bumper blog post: “One thing we want to be transparent about today is that we currently have no other Assassin’s Creed remake actively in development. Our teams are already focused on the next chapter of Assassin’s Creed titles, including projects you haven’t heard about yet, featuring new settings and stories.”
The publisher at least doesn’t rule out the idea of doing more entirely: “Like many of you, we love the idea of revisiting our classic titles, and we’ll keep exploring opportunities to bring older titles back.”
In its teased series update, Ubisoft instead provided updates on Codename Hexe and Codename Invictus. The former is the Assassin’s Creed game based during the witch trials while the latter is a multiplayer project.
On Hexe, it said:
We’re making steady progress on this darker Assassin’s Creed experience, though there is still work ahead of us. We know the wait has been long, and we’re grateful for your patience and continued enthusiasm for the project. The team remains focused on delivering the unique vision at the heart of this project, and we’ll share our next major update in 2027. Until we’re ready to share more, we’ll keep enjoying your theories, discussions, and excitement as this experience continues to take shape.
On Invictus, it said:
The team behind Codename Invictus, our ambitious Multiplayer project, has had a busy year. A few months ago, hundreds of players joined our first private Insiders Session, got hands-on with an early prototype, and shared feedback directly with the development team.
…
We’re proud of the work so far and very excited for the year ahead. Invictus is still in development, so information you come across online may be incomplete, outdated, or inaccurate. We’ll keep testing new iterations and update you as soon as we have more to share.
