Sony has provided some really nice colourways for the PS5 console and DualSense controller, but I think this just-announced Prism collection might be my favourite.
The Prism collection brings back transparent plastic, allowing you too peer through the shell and see the inner workings of your console and controller. You can get a taste for what that looks like in the below video:
The trio of new colours are named Flare Orange, Emerald Green, and Graphite Gray.
As mentioned, the main draw of these accessories are their transparency, revealing the tech beneath the outer layer. This harkens back to the 90s, when transparent hardware was something of a trend in gaming and beyond.
Even without that element, I really like all three colours themselves, but making them see-through as well is really fun.
“We know how much our fans have been looking forward to the return of transparent controllers,” says Leo Cardoso, a designer from PlayStation’s Colour, Material, and Finish team. “We wanted to bring back the iconic see-through trend of the late ’90s in a fresh, modern way that complements the PS5’s industrial design.”
Satoshi Aoyagi talks about the design intentions further:
“The high-gloss clear finish extends across the back of the controller, offering a look at the technology that powers the DualSense controller while maintaining a sleek, monochromatic look. The metallic finish on the middle cover brings the contrasting surfaces together for a premium appearance that feels consistent with the PS5 generation. To complement the futuristic aesthetic, we carefully selected three distinct colors: a vibrant orange that subtly takes on a rosy hue where the transparent material overlaps, a deep hunter green that gains depth through its transparency, and a cool-toned storm gray.”
You’ll be able to get DualSense PS5 controllers in these colours as well as console covers for the current standard PS5 model. It appears there aren’t variants for PS5 Pro or older PS5 iterations.
If you’re interested in grabbing any of these Prism collection items, pre-orders begin on 10th November 2026, available via PlayStation directly or other unspecified retailers. The products will release starting 4th February 2027.
Price-wise, it’s similar to previous alternate colour accessories. The controllers will go for $84.99/€84.99/£74.99, while the matching console covers cost $74.99 USD/€74.99/£64.99.
