As will come as very little surprise to all those aware of the ever-shrinking time left in the ‘2026’ window, FromSoftware has today announced that its Switch 2 exclusive, The Duskbloods, will not be launching as originally planned this year, but is instead being pushed to 2027.
The studio didn’t give a precise new release date, but confirmed that it is taking extra time “for final adjustments to game rules and balancing”.
The full delay statement was shared on the developer’s social media accounts earlier today, where it apologised to all those who have been patiently waiting for the release ever since it was first revealed back in the Switch 2 unveiling Direct last year.
Here is FromSoft’s message in full:
While development of ‘The Duskbloods’ is at the final adjustment stage, we have made the decision to move the launch window to 2027.
We apologise to players who have been kindly awaiting the release of this title and thank you for your patience and support.
During the network test, we saw active interest in the core concepts of the game, including combat, strategic depth, and player expression. To further enhance these aspects, we have decided to move the launch, allowing time for final adjustments to game rules and balancing.
So no, not all that surprising (considering it’s almost November already and we haven’t heard a peep since the network test), but it’s still a shame to learn that we’ve got to wait a bit longer. Hey, hopefully the extra polish will lead to a better launch.
The game’s first network test back in August was pretty disastrous, all things considered, with frequent crashes and many players not being able to experience the damn thing. Things were better in the ensuing tests, and we winded up having a rather good time with it.
We’ll be keeping an eye out for a more precise release date as we head into the new year. Hopefully we don’t have to wait for long!
