Earlier this week, the third entry in Lara Croft’s Tomb Raider ‘Survivor’ trilogy got shadow-dropped on the Switch 2.
This lines up with Tomb Raider’s 30th anniversary this week. Now, to add to this, Aspyr has released a special celebration trailer. It showcases all the games this particular team has helped revive in recent years, including the collections.
“Today marks the 30th Anniversary of the Tomb Raider series! In 1996, 30 years ago today, the original Tomb Raider game was released. Who knew it would become the massive franchise it is today or that Lara Croft would become a household name synonymous with adventure?
“The original games, like the treasures Lara uncovers, have not been lost to time, they were only waiting for someone to rediscover them. Dive back into the adrenaline-pumping action, explore the mysteries once more behind ancient civilizations and nefarious secret societies, and re-experience the moment when Lara becomes the Tomb Raider she’s destined to be!”
If you aren’t already playing Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, it’s currently 10% off its normal price. The trilogy collection is also 10% off, and there are sales on Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition and Rise of the Tomb Raider. Aspyr’s retro Tomb Raider collections are also on sale.
As for the future of the series, Crystal Dynamics, Flying Wild Hog and Amazon Game Studios will be bringing Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis (a reimagining of the original game) to the Switch 2 and other platforms in February next year. Crystal Dynamics is also working on Tomb Raider: Catalyst, a brand-new entry in the series, due out in 2028.
