Where Can You Buy the Air Max 1 ‘86 ‘Big Bubble Sport Red’?

Why Does the Air Max 1 ‘86 ‘Big Bubble Sport Red’ Stand Out?

Tinker Hatfield’s Air Max 1 debuted in 1987, and its earliest pairs carried a larger visible Air unit than later production runs. The ‘86 Big Bubble brings that oversized window back, and this pair landed on Air Max Day, the anniversary of the Air Max 1’s debut.

The upper mixes white mesh with Sport Red suede on the mudguard and Swoosh, plus red eyelets, branding and insole. The Big Bubble Air unit sits in a white midsole over a black, red and white outsole. Nike even shipped it in an aged, scuffed box with an illustration of the large Air unit on the side.

Should You Buy the Air Max 1 ‘86 ‘Big Bubble Sport Red’?

I can’t help it, but there is something very ’80s or ’90s retro with this one. It has a Stranger Things and Forrest Gump vibe. With the right attire, you can easily change that if it’s not your desired flow.

What we haven’t pointed out is the comfort. This is one of the most comfortable older Air Max designs and for some, that’s reason enough to cop.
