‘Breaking Bad’ Star RJ Mitte Made One Request to Family Before Death

RJ Mitte, known for his role in the AMC drama series Breaking Bad, passed away on Monday at just the age of 34.

The actor reportedly died by suicide at his home in Brownsville, Texas, and Cameron County Justice of the Peace Cyndi Hinojosa noted that he was officially declared dead around 1:30 p.m. local time

Mitte played the role of Walter White Jr./Flynn in Breaking Bad, the son of Bryan Cranston’s main character, Walter White/Heisenberg. The show lasted five seasons from 2008 to 2013 and is widely considered one of the best, if not the best, shows ever made. He even took home a Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.

Like his character in Breaking Bad, Mitte also had cerebral palsy in real life. But that didn’t stop him from advancing his acting career even further after the show ended, starring in projects such as Triumph, The Oak Room, Switched at Birth and The Guardians of Justice, among others.

RJ Mitte was adopted by Roy Frank Mitte Jr. and Dyna Mitte just weeks after he was born. He grew up alongside his sister, Lacianne “Lacey” Carriere, who also works in the entertainment industry. Mitte was also engaged to Kennedy Suarez, proposing on her birthday, Oct. 10, 2025, during the Ethereal Elegance, A Shimmering Celebration event, which benefited United Cerebral Palsy.

And ahead of his death, Mitte made a request to his family, asking them not to sell his Breaking Bad stuff “even after I’m dead.” This includes props from the show such as a Heisenberg hat, some of his clothes and his crutches.

“I tell my family, it’s gonna be in my will, no one’s allowed to sell my stuff, even after I’m dead,” Mitte said. “I’m already putting it in there. It’s gonna be like a little museum. It’s like it’s all yours. I’m not here, it’s all yours. But I have a Heisenberg hat, I have some of my clothes. Really, the only thing I truly wanted after the show was my crutches.”
