Cheap Trick has canceled two shows planned for February 2027, and a statement shared by one of the venues says the band “has decided to take an unspecified amount of time off,” Ultimate Classic Rock reported on Monday.
The Canceled Shows
Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort in Cherokee, North Carolina, posted on Facebook that Cheap Trick’s Feb. 13 show there was off. “Mama said there’d be days like this,” the post began.
The statement the casino shared reads: “After many years of touring, and a much-needed break, Cheap Trick has decided to take an unspecified amount of time off, therefore this event has unfortunately been canceled.” Fans who bought tickets will get refunds automatically, to the card or account they paid with.
The band has also dropped out of the Thunder by the Bay Music & Motors Festival in Sarasota, Florida, where it was set to play on Feb. 19. “While we are disappointed by this unexpected news, we respect the band’s decision and wish them all the best,” the festival said.
Parade reported the Sarasota date earlier this month, along with a Feb. 20 show at the Seminole Casino Hotel in Immokalee, Florida, and an April 10 show in Valdosta, Georgia. Neither of those had been canceled as of Monday.
What About the November Shows?
Cheap Trick still had 10 shows on its 2026 calendar and several more in 2027, according to Ultimate Classic Rock, and it isn’t clear yet whether any of them will be affected. The November run starts Nov. 5 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and wraps up Nov. 22 in Detroit, and those dates were still listed on concert sites as of Monday.
The statement doesn’t give a reason beyond the need for a break. Back in June, the band canceled or postponed several shows and blamed “circumstances beyond our control.”
Five Decades on the Road
Robin Zander, Rick Nielsen and Tom Petersson formed Cheap Trick in Rockford, Illinois, in 1973. Nielsen’s son Daxx plays drums with them on tour, according to Wikipedia.
The live version of “I Want You to Want Me” from Cheap Trick at Budokan reached No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1979, and the album went triple platinum. “The Flame” gave the band its first No. 1 in 1988, and Cheap Trick went into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016.
Their latest album, All Washed Up, came out in November 2025, and they’ve spent most of this year touring behind it. Their most recent show was Oct. 9 in Savannah, Georgia.
