There’s an often forgotten-about space between boots and sneakers, which are popular year-round, occupied by a kind of shoe that’s more refined than a sneaker and with a lower profile than a boot. It’s a gap that Clarks is doing an admirable job filling with shoes like this one, which is part of the big fall sale happening at Macy’s right now.
The Clarks Men’s Weltridge Moc Toe Casual Lace-Up Shoes are on sale for $72 at Macy’s, 40% off its normal $120 price tag. It’s available in a dark tan leather in half sizes between 7 and 12 (plus size 13) in both medium and wide widths, though availability of the latter is limited. They also come in a tan suede colorway that has more of a summer feel.
The Weltridge is a heritage-inspired moccasin toe shoe with a round toe, visible stitching, and lace-up closure, all in a beautiful, rich leather that’s neither too dark nor too light. These welt-constructed boots have a fairly low silhouette that looks great with denim or relaxed trousers, and the lightweight ethylene vinyl acetate sole, textile lining, and molded footbed ensure that they’re comfortable to wear and walk in for long periods.
One shopper wrote that they bought these shoes looking for “stability, comfort and good looks” and they found all three. “These were comfortable right out of the box, and the size was right on,” they continued, adding that these boots are made of “really nice leather and look like they’ll last for years.”
